Biking in the Eastern Sierra is absolutly incredible! There are numerous safe paved roads for road biking and the endless miles of dirt roads are prime for mountain biking. You can even do multiday rides on dirt or road and never encounter civilization for days on end.
A couple nice dirt rides are up the Buttermilk Road or the roads along the Owens River. There are steeper rides up Silver Canyon and the Coyote Flat Road. For road biking try East Line Street all the way around till the road becomes Warm Springs Road and heads back to 395 a little south of Bishop. The ride from Toms Place to Long Valley along the Old Highway is very nice as well.
