Camping on 395.com

There is camping almost everywhere you look in the Eastern Sierra. D.W.P. land is closed to camping as are some high use areas but generally, there is a perfect little hidden spot, just waiting for you and it is free. Campfire permits are available and you will need a shovel and some water in order to have a safe campfire. There are numerous full service RV campgrounds if you are looking for a few more amenities.

Fires leave Baker Creek Campground Untouched

Baker Creek is a campground that is not as stunning as campgrounds deeper in the backcountry. However, it is worth the very short drive from Big Pine. Just follow the Baker Creek road, just north of Bigpine, off of highway 395.

Camping is now $14/day w/o electric and $17/day w/electric. Phone is now 1-760-852-4481. Obviously the days are gone when you could pull in at 3AM for a soak and then continue on to Death Valley.
