It's vacation time!

This year instead of traveling up to Redding we have decided to explore the smaller creeks and rivers from Tahoe to Bishop. Large area yes, but with your help maybe we can decrease driving around time and have more fishing time. We will be fishing from April 25 to May 4th.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Limited crowd factor
Short hikes under 2 miles

We will either be fishing from Reno/Tahoe area back to Bridgeport or
Bridgeport to Bishop. We do have to be in Reno to visit family so that's a given.

If you could please suggest flies that would be nice as well. I'm sort of into the Gary Lafontaine flies at the moment.

We are not lake experienced so those are out as well on this trip.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi fflutterffly...nice to see you here.

Flies for the area at that time of year will include a variety of parachute flies, such as Adams, baetis/BWO, and March Browns. I would also have a handful of Elk Hair Caddis on hand and smaller Stimulators. These should be in the # 14-18 range.

As far as where to go...checkout Rush Creek at the north end of the June Lake Loop. Fishing is C&R only artificial only from Grant Lake down to 395. Saddlebag creek runs along SR 120 from Tuolomne Meadows down to Lee Vining...that's always fun. Mosquito Flats up into Little Lakes Valley is in the Rock Creek area. Tons of small creeks if you hike out of the Lakes area in Bishop.

How many people in your party?

Red face

Hi Chris, We still are missing each other each time I come up to Bishop. We'll have to stop 'not' meeting like this.
It will only be Karen and I fishing on this trip. We will be making our way up to Reno. It's a 16 day trip with 90% fishing...we hope. Our problem is the car we are taking is the Prius. Great on Gas...Bad on clearance. That makes things a little difficult when it comes to exploring. We do drive it on the side dirt roads around the Owens, but we really should keep off those dirt roads. Chalk road is a snap. Some of the back paths off of 6 we do, but it really isn't to smart.
So there you have it.
Hope we can meet up soon.
