Outfitters on 395.com

Horseback riding is one of the most traditional and enjoyable activities around. Whether you bring your own stock, or take a day ride or pack trip with an outfitter, you will find the views to be astounding, and the effort to be non-existent. There are many outfitters throughout the Eastern Sierra who offer short trail rides, half-day and all-day rides. Some all-day rides such as those at Pine Creek will put you on the best fishing in the range. If you bring your own stock, there are several trailheads with corrals and camps with stock facilities. The Symmes Creek Trailhead for Sheperd Pass has a corral and this trail is so tough, that taking a ride up is a great alternative to brutal slog on foot. Stock can be used here to carry in loads for kayakers who wish to do the Kern River from Junction Meadow. Agnew Meadows and Horseshoe Meadow also offer horsecamping. Stock is also often used for hauling loads up near the Palisade Glacier for spring skiing trips. There is nothing like skiing the notches and dining on fresh food and cold drinks. Taking a ride up in Rock Creek will leave you breathless with unlimited photographic oppurtunity. Try this page for a complete list of Eastern Sierra packers.
