Chair 2 is now known as the Stump Alley Express and opened in 1956. In 1985 this chair was upgraded from the original double to a quad. This was a design which placed twice as many chairs on the cable since the chair ran at half speed thereby allowing more skiers to be in the chair at a time; not on the run, not in the line, but on the chair. This lasted many years and the lines at chair 2 are legendary for their length and flamboyance. The chair 2 parking lot is a great place to park and the scene is distinctly different than the main lodge locker room atmosphere. Anyway, in 1997 chair 2 became the Stump Alley Express and things haven't been the same since. What used to be a 10+ minute ride is now a quick 5 minute trip. Stump Alley has been widened, and widened, and widened some more. Snowmaking top to bottom and grooming that is ripple free, well you get the idea. But groomed isn't all the chair 2 offers, it also has Roger's Ridge, simply "The Place" to be when it's dumping. The trees in the chair 2 area are also excellent for powder and the hidden MGM's poke is a local's favorite. Patrolman's offers steeper groomed while Mambo allows casual terrain in a less crowded environment. Chair 2 really has it all, including the best food around at the Mill Cafe so check it out.
